An already made, kept warm soggy burger that serves at the most as a quick on-the-go snack? This is definitively NOT what you get here.
Hans im Glück and Peter Pane are burger franchise chains. Their restaurants can be found now (only 10 years after the first Hans im Glück opened) in many German cities and a few places elsewhere in the world. Peter Pane has its roots as a franchise partner of Hans im Glück but is now an own chain. The concept of both is overall still the same though regarding interior design and the general concept of how the menu works but the exact food and drink items are somewhat different.
So what do you get? A great variety of home-made meaty, vegetarian and vegan burgers with fries or salad on the side (if you want), all kinds of drinks and a small choice of desserts. The burgers are rather big (for German standards), so I (Spreepferdchen) tend to share a portion of fries if I want a dessert. Personally, I like the choice of burgers, drinks and desserts a bit better at Peter Pane (though this is just details in preferences for certain flavours and combinations), however, the vegetarian “Hornträger” burger of Hans im Glück is my all-time-favourite. At the end of the day, both chains serve fresh, very good burgers in modern design restaurants with quick and friendly service (at least in all restaurants we have been to so far which includes places in Berlin, Munich and Düsseldorf).
