Rausch Schokoladenhaus (Berlin, Germany)

Anyone else here who likes food porn and chocolate just as much as I do? Then I have the right spot for you if you happen to be in Berlin: the Rausch Schokoladenhaus in the district of Mitte.

To be honest, I don’t find the chocolate of Rausch particularly outstanding per se. However, I like paying a visit whenever I happen to be nearby for various reasons. First, though the chocolate taste itself may not be better than in other places I have been, the size of the shop and the variety of products are impressive on their own. You can find the one of other thing you may not find as such elsewhere and their products make nice gifts for sure. Second, the smell inside the shop (yes, that’s my whole point). Third, the chocolate sculptures. There are several big sculptures entirely made of chocolate throughout the shop. Some display Berlin sights such as the Reichstag, other change by seasons like the huge Easter egg or Christmas themed sculptures.

Fourth, and probably the most important of my points, the café on the upper floor. Delicate tartlets – each of them looking so delicious that you cannot decide which one to take. But no matter if you decide for fruit, chocolate, something of both or whatever else, they are always worth the calories on your hips! Though the café is rather big, it may be diffcult to find a table, especially on the weekends and around holidays. But the staff will gladly pack up a tartlet for you to take away.

P.S. Extra chocoholic tip: the Ritter Sport Bunte SchokoWelt is close by the Rausch Schokoladenhaus. In the first floor, you can have your own chocolate created. Choose between white, dark and milk chocolate and add all your favourite toppings like nuts, dried fruits, Smarties etc. Depending on how long the queue is, it can take quite a while for your chocolate bar to be done. But the waiting time can be easily overcome in the in-house Ritter Sport shop, the tiny chocolate history exhibition on the second floor and the Ritter Sport café on the upper floor.
