I will be honest with you: we visited the Deutsches Drahtmuseum (“German Museum of wire”) thinking it would be terrible. We pictured a big, empty room with nothing but a man sitting on the centre, holding a single piece of wire. We’d pay the admission ticket, he’d show us his wire, and we would part ways.
Expecting to be disappointed, what we found instead was a very entertaining (and large!) museum that is a must for anyone interested in how things work. The first floor covers the mandatory sections on how wire is made (and be honest: do you know how wire is made?), while the remaining floors host multiple displays showing how wire has been used over the years: from hair-thin wires and optic fibre to clothing items and suspension bridges, this museum has something for everyone.
